Badr-linked channel presses PM to void Basra palaces investment deal

WHAT HAPPENED

Watan TV (Badr Organization — affiliated) posted this evening a photograph of a formal letter addressed to the prime minister, signed in the name of al-Tamimi, asking that the investment opportunity granted over the presidential palaces in Basra be cancelled and the grounds converted into recreational centres and green space for residents. The letter cites appeals and complaints from Basra residents, notables and tribal sheikhs, and argues the area's electricity, water and infrastructure cannot bear an investment or housing project. The evidence rests on a single channel and a visual review of the document image; the letter's text and seals are legible but the identity of the man pictured and the signature's authenticity are not confirmable from the image, and the evidence does not state al-Tamimi's full name, office or faction.

Watch: an official response from the prime minister's office or Basra governorate on the palaces allocation, a second faction channel endorsing or contesting the demand, publication of the investor's identity or the contract terms, or al-Tamimi's office confirming the letter — any of these moves this file.
