KSS puts al-Walai among PMF protesters and on the phone to Baghdad

WHAT HAPPENED

On the afternoon of 13 August, S Media, Saed al-Shuhada and Al-Kornet al-Kata'ibi published the same sentence within about a minute of each other, saying Abu Alaa al-Walai stands with his protesting brothers and sons in loyalty to the blood and in affirmation of steadfastness. About an hour later iNEWS reported that al-Walai was taking part in PMF demonstrations following a phone call with Prime Minister Ali al-Zubaidi, and separately that he had phoned Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi to resolve the problems of wounded PMF members. The three identical posts are one network republishing itself rather than three independent lines; the phone calls rest on iNEWS's own reporting with no outside coverage in hand.

WHY IT MATTERS

A single faction is claiming both the street and the channel of redress on PMF welfare, which gives it ownership of the grievance and of whatever the government concedes.
