Militia channels bury PMF dead they blame on Saudi-American strike

Sabereen News and Unit 10,000 (both KH — affiliated) and Shabab al-Islam (Ashab al-Kahf — owned/non-official) published an identical caption within 24 minutes announcing funeral rites in Najaf for Popular Mobilization Forces members they say were killed by "Saudi-American aggression"

WHAT HAPPENED

Between 20:07 and 20:31 on 30 July 2026, three channels published the same sentence — "بدء مراسم تشييع شهداء الحشد الذين ارتقوا جراء العدوان السعودي الأمريكي في النجف الأشرف" ("Start of the funeral rites for the Hashd martyrs who fell as a result of the Saudi-American aggression, in Najaf al-Ashraf"): Sabereen News (KH — affiliated) first, then Unit 10,000 (KH — affiliated), then Shabab al-Islam (Ashab al-Kahf — owned/non-official). Visual review of the accompanying images shows coffins draped in Iraqi flags inside an ornate religious interior with clerics, mourners and camera crews present. None of the three posts gives a date, a location for the alleged strike, a casualty count or names of the dead, and none carries an operational claim in response. No outside reporting of the underlying incident appears in the material available to the desk, so the deaths and their cause rest entirely on these captions.

WHY IT MATTERS

Funerals with flag-draped coffins are the network's own admission that Popular Mobilization Forces personnel died, and the "Saudi-American" wording moves the named adversary from Washington alone to Riyadh — the frame every other statement in this window is built on.
