On 22 October, parliamentary Finance Committee member Riyadh al-Tamimi told Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official owned media) that there was a government direction to remove zeros from the currency or change it, and put the Central Bank’s monetary stock at no more than $21 billion. Discussing the budget, he called the 2.5 trillion dinar regional-development allocation a catastrophe and demanded at least 9 trillion; he also said the Kurdistan Region had not cooperated with Baghdad in implementing ASYCUDA and should comply with federal decisions and organize its border crossings.
