Militia channels bury PMF dead they blame on Saudi-US strikes

WHAT HAPPENED

Within a half hour on the evening of 30 July, Al-Kornet al-Kata'ibi (KSS — affiliated) and Sabereen News (KH — affiliated) posted word-for-word identical text, 12 seconds apart, describing "a solemn funeral for the martyrs of the Popular Mobilization who ascended as a result of the Saudi–American aggression in holy Karbala, amid wide popular participation"; Sabereen News attributed the wording to the Popular Mobilization Commission. Earlier in the same hour, Al-Ittijah TV (KH — official) published a report headlined "Basra buries the martyr of the treacherous Saudi aggression Haydar al-Sikini, with demands for a firm response". Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) aired an MP speaking of "the blood of the martyrs of the Saudi aggression". No Iraqi faction claim of a retaliatory operation appears in the collected material, and no independent reporting of the underlying strikes was supplied to the desk.
