Herki tribesmen reportedly mobilize against Peshmerga forces in Khbat

WHAT HAPPENED

On August 23, media linked to KH, AAH, Badr Organization, Nujaba and KSS reported that armed Herki tribesmen blocked roads toward Kardarsha and Khbat before gathering for a possible confrontation with Peshmerga or Barzani forces. Multiple channels carried the road closure, while later reports added alleged clashes, continued mobilization and an attributed instruction that tribal youths could act against Barzani forces if Herki intermediaries were detained. The channels agreed that mobilization was occurring, but no press reporting or militia claim independently established the scale, location or factional direction of the armed activity.
