Neither post states where, when or how the men were killed, and no unit is named. Nujaba's signed statement of the same morning describes a dawn strike by aircraft and missiles on "the depth of secure Iraqi cities," attributed to "the brutal American occupation and the mercenary Saudi coalition." Unit 10,000 (Kataib Hezbollah — affiliated) separately recorded the bodies arriving in Baghdad from the Nineveh Plain.
