Badr, AAH and KSS channels all carry state weapons-monopoly line

WHAT HAPPENED

Between 17:51 and 18:54 on 17 August, Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) reported the presidencies affirming state control of weapons as the basis of state authority and the rule of law, Al-Ghadeer TV (Badr Organization — official) and Watan TV (Badr Organization — affiliated) carried government spokesman Haidar al-Aboudi saying the file is a sovereign Iraqi matter with no external dictates and that those refusing will be dealt with under the law, and iNEWS (KSS — affiliated) framed the initiative as "a national Shiite" one while attributing to al-Fatlawi the claim of a regional desire to make it fail. Al-Ghadeer TV separately carried the spokesman saying the international coalition is accelerating procedures to end its mission in Iraq at the end of September. Three separate faction networks carried the state line within the same hour; none announced any measure of its own.

WHY IT MATTERS

Three faction networks are now publicly positioned as owners rather than objects of the weapons-monopoly file, which changes who bears the cost if it stalls.
