On the morning of 12 August, Al-Ittijah TV (KH — official) carried Babil Provincial Council chairman Asaad al-Muslimawi announcing condemnation of Adnan al-Janabi's statements on Jurf al-Nasr and that the council had directed lawsuits be filed against him, and, eight minutes earlier, Governor Ali Turki al-Jamali replying to what the channel captioned "sheikhs of discord" by saying Jurf al-Nasr had been occupied by Chechens, Afghans and terrorist groups and the security forces bore no responsibility. Roughly fifteen minutes later Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) aired legal expert Abbas al-Aqabi saying more than one legal provision applies to those who insult the security forces, that al-Janabi's "confirmation and denial" bring him close to conviction for accusing the Popular Mobilization Forces, and that his accusations "disrupt public security." Two separately owned faction channels carried the same subject within one hour, which is what raises this above a single statement; no independent reporting of the underlying Jurf al-Nasr allegations appears in the collected window.
