Sadiqoun's Mahdi al-Husseini says Fayyadh must face accountability

WHAT HAPPENED

Mahdi al-Husseini (Sadiqoun Political Bureau — AAH), speaking on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official owned media) on August 30, said the prime minister warned Faleh al-Fayyad of an alleged Saudi attack on PMF units three hours beforehand, but Fayyadh notified only Kataib Hezbollah rather than the affected PMF units. He called Fayyadh negligent, demanded that he answer to a fact-finding committee rather than through the media, and denied that Sadiqoun sought the PMF chairmanship. Abu Mithaq al-Masari (independent politician), appearing on the same channel, said influential Framework figures considered Fayyadh’s parliamentary appearance political rather than technical, that Fayyadh had been advised not to attend, that the PMF law could lead to his replacement, and that the brigades were warned because they were accused of shelling Saudi Arabia rather than because the PMF institution was accused.

WHY IT MATTERS

Compared with al-Masari’s contextual account, Husseini’s demand places Sadiqoun publicly against Fayyadh over command responsibility while expressly denying that it seeks his office.
