On 14 October, Sadiqoun MP Riyadh al-Tamimi (AAH), quoted by Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official owned media), said Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi had pledged to prevent the dollar exchange rate rising above 158,000 dinars. He also said the parliamentary Finance Committee had advance knowledge of the exchange-rate increase and that the finance minister had submitted the draft budget to the Economic Council.
