Two militia networks bury dead they blame on U.S.-Saudi strikes

Al-Janoub TV (Harakat al-Jihad wal-Bina — official) and Sabereen News (KH — affiliated) each covered funerals for personnel they say were killed in strikes attributed to the United States and Saudi Arabia, differing on who they name

WHAT HAPPENED

Al-Janoub TV (Harakat al-Jihad wal-Bina — official owned media) posted overnight from Karbala on a "solemn funeral for the bodies of the martyrs of the American-Saudi attacks" (تشييع مهيب لجثامين شهداء الاعتداءات الأمريكية السعودية). About ninety minutes earlier, Sabereen News (KH — affiliated) posted from Nineveh on "part of the funeral of Popular Mobilization martyrs who attained martyrdom as a result of the terrorist Saudi aggression" (شهداء الحشد الشعبي الذي نالوا الشهادة جراء العدوان السعودي الإرهابي). Neither post gives a date, location or circumstance for the deaths, names the dead, or states a number. Al-Janoub TV names two states as authors of the attacks; Sabereen News names only Saudi Arabia, and identifies the dead as Popular Mobilization personnel rather than faction members.

WATCH

Watch: a named casualty list or brigade identification from either network, a Popular Mobilization or faction statement giving the date and place of the deaths, outside reporting of American or Saudi strikes in Nineveh or elsewhere in Iraq, and any claim of retaliation under an Islamic Resistance in Iraq or other brand — any of these moves this file.
