On September 1, outlets linked to AAH, Badr Organization, KH, KSS, Nujaba and Ashab al-Kahf reported Haitham al-Hamdani’s resignation as Dhi Qar governor and the provincial council’s approval. Al-Ghadeer TV (Badr Organization — official owned media) subsequently added that voting for a new governor had begun and that Haider Ghani was running independently; no supplied government statement independently confirms the transition.
