Turkmen parliamentary bloc leader Arshad al-Salihi, speaking on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) on 3 September, described Altun Kupri as security-fragile and repeatedly attacked by terrorists. He said the Iraqi Army rather than the Peshmerga should control Kirkuk’s administrative boundaries and called for reconsideration of the current security arrangement while an investigation into attacks on a PMF headquarters remained pending.

“Altun Kupri district in Kirkuk is security-fragile and has suffered many terrorist attacks; the Iraqi Army, not the Peshmerga, should have held Kirkuk’s administrative boundaries; we await the investigation results concerning attacks on the PMF headquarters in Altun Kupri; Iraqi Army security control of Kirkuk’s administrative boundaries should be reconsidered.”
