Shortly after midnight on 14 August, Al-Kornet al-Kata'ibi reported flights suspended at Erbil International Airport after a drone attack on sites in its vicinity; within twenty minutes Al-Ahad TV's correspondent in the Kurdistan Region reported six drones striking military points, naming the Rotana and Divan hotels as places where American personnel were hit and stating American defences failed to stop them; Watan TV then posted night video it presented as fire and explosions at the hotel where Americans reside. Three separate faction media networks therefore describe the same event within half an hour, which is why the account itself stands on more than one line; but the material contains no claim of responsibility by any Iraqi faction or front brand, and no outside coverage of the attack is in hand, so the perpetrator and the damage remain unestablished.
