Between 23:11 and 23:33 on 18 August, Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) posted five segments from the same edition of "Before Tomorrow", captioned throughout "Weapons ban — a deadline for handover and conditions that are refused". Hadi Jalu Marei described the factions' terms in exchange for weapons confinement — dissolving the Peshmerga and the withdrawal of Turkish forces — as "impossible", and on-screen text in the same broadcast said the weapons ban had moved "from an Iraqi problem conditioned on the withdrawal of American forces to an external crisis". In an adjacent segment Hussein Shalushi said direct dialogue between the factions and the prime minister had taken place several times, that the factions believe in and trust al-Zaidi, and that the government should remove the causes for the weapons' existence and provide reassurances.
