Iraq’s state airports company has demoted its former airports-management chief, Hussein Ali Hussein Jaber, and referred his case to the Federal Commission of Integrity over contract violations at Baghdad International Airport, according to an administrative order reported Saturday. It also referred the case of Ali Salim Hussein, the department’s assistant director for legal affairs, to the commission. Investigators identified violations involving leases for VIP lounges, electronic gates, fast-track passenger services and offices. They also examined contract renewals, signing authority and consistency with the Baghdad airport development project. Other employees were reprimanded for signing undated contracts, failing to note violations or signing outside their duties. The company also penalized employees accused of trying to hide the original case papers inside the legal section.
