On September 1, Unit 10,000 (Kataib Hezbollah-affiliated channel) reported a quadcopter explosion near an unidentified battalion and gave a preliminary toll of two Israeli soldiers killed nearby. The channel did not identify the location or attacker, and no Iraqi militia claimed participation in its posts. The companion Militia Digest carries the full account.

Iraq’s prime minister rejected a proposal to retain coalition troops after the mission’s September 30 deadline. Iraq had separately said it rejected an extension proposal as the coalition mission approached its scheduled end.

Private generator owners threatened a boycott unless their demands were met. A boycott would disrupt privately supplied electricity if the owners carry it out.

On the economy, Iraq barred travellers from taking more than $20,000 out of the country.

An Iraqi court sentenced a Kataib Hezbollah (Iran-aligned Iraqi militia) member to 15 years in prison for kidnapping US journalist Shelly Kittleson. Separate reporting also identified the victim and sentence, while the collected material recorded no militia comment as of August 31.
