On 15 August, the Sadiqoun bloc asked the prime minister to expedite submission of the PMF law to parliament, a request detailed in the militia digest published beside this briefing. A government security spokesperson said the weapons policy does not concern the PMF, while drone attacks were reported to be testing the 30 September weapons deadline.

Baghdad and Erbil held senior talks on implementing the Iraq-Iran security agreement, with discussions covering border-security coordination and smuggling controls. Iraq’s security chief also discussed the border pact and drone attacks in Erbil, where the Security Media Cell said there was no indication that drones targeting the city were launched from Iraqi territory.

KH-, KSS- and AAH-linked channels carried a Babil gathering against remarks by Adnan al-Janabi concerning Jurf al-Nasr, but attached different political messages to it. Sabereen News (KH — affiliated), Al-Ittijah TV (KH — official), Unit 10,000 (KH — affiliated), Al-Kornet al-Kata'ibi (KSS — affiliated) and Al-Ahad TV all reported the event; KH-linked posts stressed that weapons would not be surrendered, while Al-Kornet relayed tribal opposition to al-Qaeda’s return and Al-Ahad described a rejection of sectarian mobilization. Footage supports that a sizeable public gathering occurred, but none of the channels identified an organizer or established joint faction direction of it.

The PMF’s 52nd Brigade took over the Bastamli sector and security points in Amerli from the Iraqi Army, according to Al-Nujaba TV (Nujaba — official), Al-Janoub TV (Harakat al-Jihad wal-Bina — official) and Al-Ghadeer TV (Badr — official). Al-Kornet al-Kata'ibi named the receiving formation, whereas Al-Nujaba TV reported the handover without naming it; none of the reports named the faction controlling the brigade. No Iraqi security authority had confirmed the handover by 15 August.

Al-Ittijah TV reported that opposition in Diyala had met a proposal to freeze provincial councils, with critics calling for reform to begin in parliament. In a separate segment, the channel aired al-Sarraj’s allegation that Tom Barrack’s interventions disparage Iraq’s political system; the channel offered no support for that allegation.

Sabereen News criticized Iraqiya over changed wording on a weapons-surrender scene, accusing the state broadcaster of encouraging internal Shia conflict. Its contrast between the two headings marked a split over weapons messaging; separately, Al-Ittijah TV carried Al-Aboudi’s claim that U.S. pressure to hand over resistance weapons could precede dissolution of the PMF. No decision to dissolve the PMF was reported.

Thirteen of 34 channels across six networks have intensified coverage of Iran since 10 August; the same number across five networks surged on the United States, while 12 channels across five networks did so on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and 12 across five on the Strait of Hormuz. Sabereen News said an Iraqi Media Network decision to review all advertising breaks before broadcast followed its own earlier intervention, while Al-Kornet al-Kata'ibi relayed the policy without that claim.
