On 17 October, security researcher Abd al-Hussein al-Juraykhi, speaking on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official owned media), said aggression against the Baghdad PMF site, if established, must not pass without consequence or silence; he requested an investigative committee, said its findings should distinguish aggression from a technical accident, and urged the PMF to prevent recurrence if the cause was accidental. The channel’s reporter relayed security-source and eyewitness speculation about a possible strike and called the PMF’s statements of no injuries and then five injuries contradictory. Later that evening, its reporter said he had not observed PMF Commission leadership visiting or following up with the wounded.

“If the explosion inside a PMF site in Baghdad was aggression, it must not pass without consequence or be met with silence. An investigative committee must be formed concerning the explosion at a PMF site to establish its causes. If the explosion at a PMF site was not aggression, the PMF Commission must prevent such incidents. The investigation results will show whether the explosion at a PMF site ”
