Across roughly two hours on the evening of 19 August, Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) ran a sustained sequence from Ahmed al-Mousawi, deputy head of the Sadiqoun parliamentary bloc, on its #نصف_دائرة programme: Fayyad must be replaced by a figure suited to the challenges, his conduct toward parliament is "disdain", signatures will be gathered for an interrogation if he does not appear, political pressure lay behind his absence from a hearing set for Monday, and he announced a complaint to the Integrity Commission alleging that terrorists and Baathists command Hashd brigades. The same channel carried supporting voices — researcher Abbas Ghadeer calling the non-attendance "an escape" and demanding the chairmanship be independent of political work, Sadiqoun general council member Ahmed Adnan calling the Popular Mobilization Forces' own statement "regrettable", and academic Meraj al-Hadidi saying failure to protect the force's soldiers would be a punishable dereliction while noting no dereliction by Fayyad has yet been proven.
