On the evening of 19 August, Ansar Allah al-Awfiya's FAA channel carried Ali al-Fatlawi saying no honourable Iraqi can relinquish his weapon under any circumstances, that 24 armed factions in the Kurdistan Region go unmentioned by those demanding weapons be restricted, and that the movement supports handing over weapons only if sovereignty and protection of Iraq are provided — otherwise "if we are cut to pieces a thousand times we will not hand over the weapon". Within the same hour Al-Ahad TV aired Ahmed al-Mousawi saying all factions agree on restricting weapons to the state if guarantees exist, that Iran supports restricting weapons to the state, and that threatening to deal with the resistance factions under the Counter-Terrorism Law would be a catastrophe. Kataib Hezbollah-affiliated Unit 10,000 and Sabereen News separately carried MP Saud al-Saedi saying the components of the state are not complete for weapons to be handed over and that Trump and Netanyahu adopted the policy of restricting weapons to the state.
