On the evening of 8 August 2026, Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official owned media) broadcast State of Law Coalition member Muayyad al-Azirjawi saying the resistance must respond to the government and the commander-in-chief, that the factions will be "under government cover" with an understanding between the two sides, and that Iraq is obliged to de-escalate while Saudi Arabia is obliged to apologise and pay compensation. In the same hour, Al-Janoub TV (Harakat al-Jihad wal-Bina — official owned media) carried Hussein Shalushi saying the factions' initiative to respond to the aggression came about because of government incapacity, and Al-Ittijah TV (KH — official owned media) carried MP al-Hasnawi announcing parliamentary moves to establish the reasons for "government silence toward the Saudi aggression". Al-Ahad TV separately carried the government spokesman's line that the factions are not rebelling against state control of weapons. All three lines are attributable to their own channels; what is missing is any statement from a faction leader endorsing the government-cover formulation.
