Sabereen News (KH — affiliated/aligned media) posted a captioned video on the evening of 8 August 2026 reading "if resistance movements draw their existence from the popular incubator, then who is it that can strip them of their weapons?", with visual review showing a soldier, symbolic imagery of hands reaching for a rifle, and overlay text on weapons merged with creed. In the same hour Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official owned media) carried the government spokesman's assertion that the factions are not rebelling against confining weapons to the state, and the State of Law guest on the same channel said he supports "regulation of weapons". The two positions come from different networks on the same question, and no faction leader statement in the window resolves them.

“The factions are not rebelling against confining weapons to the state — they are Iraqis who rose up in 2014 to defend the homeland”
الفصائل ليست متمردة على حصر السلاح بيد الدولة.. فهم عراقيون انتفضوا عام 2014 للدفاع عن الوطن
The disarmament file is being argued through two different registers by two different networks — legitimacy-through-popular-support on one side, compliance-and-regulation on the other — without either faction's leadership committing itself in this window.
