Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) ran two segments shortly before 08:41 on 14 August under on-screen banners reading that Baghdad is moving to settle the file of weapons outside state institutions. Political researcher Ahmad al-Miyahi said uncontrolled weapons in Iraq are of many kinds while the debate is aimed only at the resistance's weapons, that confining weapons is a political decision implementable when full sovereignty exists, that weapons which defended Iraqi soil cannot be made a target, and that everyone agrees war-and-peace decisions belong exclusively to the state. Legal expert Musaddiq Adel said the Iraqi arms law is vague and contains no term for "confining weapons to the state", that the judiciary can treat anyone bearing arms outside the state as an armed gang, and that the file of disengaging the factions from the Popular Mobilization Forces must be completed. Both segments come from one channel on one morning, which caps this at credible.
