KSS channel publishes MP's letter demanding Al-Fallujah Channel be shut

WHAT HAPPENED

At 12:39 KSS-affiliated Al-Kornet al-Kata'ibi posted MP Ahmed Shaheed's statement that he had submitted an official letter to the Communications and Media Commission to stop what he called the sectarian Al-Fallujah Channel. The attached document, dated 2026-08-09 on Council of Representatives letterhead, cites a religious episode it calls sectarian and inciting, content about the Arbaeen visitation, and the channel's earlier description of PMF members killed by American and Saudi strikes as "the killed", invoking the 2019 broadcasting rules and demanding all necessary legal measures and the channel's suspension.

WHY IT MATTERS

A sitting MP is asking Iraq's media regulator to revoke a licensed channel's broadcast over its wording about militia casualties, which is a direct request for state action against a broadcaster.
