Al-Janoub TV, the official channel of Harakat al-Jihad wal-Bina, posted two items from its Baghdad programme within an hour this morning: one saying engineers were suppressed and arrested because of a government letter, told by a female engineer, and one quoting engineer Hind that 6,000 employees retired without replacement engineers being appointed and that the Civil Service Council is negligent. Neither post identifies the government body that issued the letter nor names anyone arrested. The rung is preponderance because both items come from the same channel and the same programme segment, with no outside coverage of engineer arrests in hand.

Watch: identification of the government letter or the issuing ministry; confirmation from any source outside Al-Janoub TV that engineers were detained; a Civil Service Council or ministry response; or another faction outlet picking up the same grievance — any of these moves this file.
