On 27 September, Al-Ghadeer TV (Badr Organization — official) reported parliamentary and popular opposition in Basra to the Iran-flight ban, including demands not to comply with U.S. decisions. It attributed to economic expert Mustafa Jawhar a claim that at least 50 flights were affected and that the ban cost Iraq $1,500 per aircraft at airports. It also attributed to political analyst Sabah al-Akili the argument that U.S. sanctions on Iranian aviation were unlawful and bound no state.
