Four faction channels carry Ghalibaf backing arms under commander-in-chief

WHAT HAPPENED

Between 10:51 and 11:23 on 20 August, Watan TV (Badr Organization — affiliated), Al-Janoub TV (Harakat al-Jihad wal-Bina — official), iNEWS (KSS — affiliated) and Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) carried the same account of National Security Adviser Qasim al-Aboudi's meeting with Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. Three of the four reproduced the text verbatim, including al-Aboudi's statement that the constitution does not permit armed groups threatening other states and that the government is proceeding with confining weapons to the state, and Ghalibaf's statement that Iran supports the government programme for a legal framework regulating weapons under the commander-in-chief; Al-Ahad TV isolated the constitutional line alone. No faction added a voice of its own to the relay.

WHY IT MATTERS

Tehran's publicly stated position, as relayed here, is support for a legal framework placing weapons under the Iraqi commander-in-chief — carried without objection on channels tied to four armed factions, which is a measurable absence of pushback rather than an endorsement of disarmament.
