Economic and oil researcher Bassam Raad, speaking on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) on 4 September, said regional events had reduced petroleum-derivative supplies and that poor planning affected fuel and vehicle imports. He called for priority supplies for taxis and commercial freight vehicles, development of Iraq’s 15 refineries, increased refining and production, and reduced reliance on imports that drain foreign currency.
