On the evening of 18 August, Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) carried Victory Coalition spokesman Aqeel al-Rudaini saying the parliamentary investigation into whether the warning notice reached Fayyad has not disclosed its results, that the warning of the aggression did not reach PMF units, that Fayyad must be asked why he did not attend his questioning in parliament, and that questioning him is not an insult to the PMF. He also said restricting weapons to the state is a national duty, that unregulated weapons are unacceptable, that some commanders exploited PMF fighters in the last elections, and that the factions are Iraqi and not subordinate to Iran.

Parliamentary scrutiny of the PMF chairman is being carried, not resisted, on a faction's own television — a channel through which the PMF's institutional leadership can be pressured without touching the institution's legitimacy.
