On the evening of 17 August, Al-Nujaba TV (Nujaba — official) aired a report by Ali Jamal on the hundredth day of the Zaidi government under the line that America is harvesting the projects while the Hashd receives the blows, with footage of rubble beneath a portrait billboard and a street interview in Baghdad. Earlier in the hour the same channel carried Imad al-Musafir on a talk programme asking why the Jurf al-Nasr file is raised while the Arab areas taken by the Kurds after 2014 go unmentioned. Both are single-channel items; the visual material does not establish where or when the depicted damage occurred, so the rung is credible only as to what the channel said.

Two factions are assigning blame for the same institutional damage to different addresses — one to the PMF's own leadership, one to the government and the United States — which sets up competing terms for any accounting over the strike.
