Within four minutes on the afternoon of 17 August, three faction channels reported an intelligence-officer detention in different terms. Al-Kornet al-Kata'ibi named Hajj Abbas Hussein Matar as Harakat al-Nujaba's intelligence official, said he was taken to an unknown location, and stated the charge as carrying out attacks against the American presence in Iraq; Jehad Brothers Team and Shabab al-Islam used word-for-word identical text describing the arrest of the head of the intelligence section of Baghdad Belt Operations of the Popular Mobilization Forces "on American orders", naming nobody. Shafaq News separately reported that a senior Nujaba figure was arrested in Dhi Qar, without stating who ordered or executed it.
