Five faction networks relay media bans; their documents disagree

WHAT HAPPENED

Between 09:10 and 09:47 on 17 August 2026, five separately owned militia-linked networks reported that Iraq's Communications and Media Commission barred commentator Ahmad al-Sharifi and politician Mishaan al-Jubouri from appearing on any media operating in Iraq. iNEWS moved first with a combined item naming both men; Al-Nujaba TV, Al-Ahad TV and Shabab al-Islam followed within roughly twelve minutes, and Al-Janoub TV last. The document images posted alongside do not match: the sheet carried by Shabab al-Islam for al-Sharifi is dated 17 August 2026 and states 90 days, while the sheets for al-Jubouri carried by Shabab al-Islam, Al-Nujaba TV and Al-Ahad TV are dated August 2023 and cite an on-air appearance on 13 August 2023, and the copy on Al-Nujaba TV reads 40 days in its body against a caption that specifies no duration.
