On the evening of 2 August, Al-Janoub TV (Harakat al-Jihad wal-Bina — official) posted a clip from its political programme in which guest Hussein al-Shaihani said that there are "Saudi criminals here" and that the minimum penalty for such a person is execution. The post carried hashtags for Iraq and Saudi Arabia. Within the same evening the channel ran two further items from the same programme on death-row prisoners, including an on-screen line about thousands of convicts sentenced to death still alive in Iraqi prisons, and an allegation that political blocs exploit the death-row constituency to obtain outside funding. The rung is preponderance: the statement itself is directly captured in the channel's own post and visual review, but it is a guest's words on a talk programme, and no other collected channel carried it.
