Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) posted two formulations from former prime minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani within a minute of each other at midday on 18 August: that state control of weapons protects civil peace, and that it is a national obligation which should not become an entry point for confrontation. Both were carried as breaking-banner quotes. The line is relayed from Sudani, not spoken by an AAH figure, which caps the reading at credible.

“State control of weapons is a national obligation and should not be an entry point for confrontation.”
حصر السلاح بيد الدولة استحقاق وطني ولا ينبغي أن يكون مدخلا للمواجهة
An AAH-owned channel giving prominence to the state-control principle, with the caveat that it must not lead to confrontation, marks out different ground from the refusal carried on KH's channel on the same day.
