Across four posts between 18:09 and 18:26 on 21 August, Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) built a segment around political analyst Hamed al-Kaabi on Faleh al-Fayyad's failure to appear before parliament over the file on the targeting of the Popular Mobilization Forces. Al-Kaabi said the continuing ambiguity is unacceptable, that non-attendance amounts to making light of Iraqi blood, that there should be sanctions against Fayyad even if they lead to dismissal, that parliament's representation and the judiciary have the right to issue an in-absentia judgment, and that political forces worked to obstruct his attendance. The same list called passing the PMF law a qualitative step for the Authority's personnel and said there is an injustice in the fighters' entitlements that requires parity with the security services.

“The continuing ambiguity over the file on the targeting of the Popular Mobilization Forces is unacceptable, and questions over Fayyad's non-attendance at parliament are escalating.”
Punishment of the man who chairs the PMF and expansion of the PMF's statutory benefits are being advanced through the same segment, which places parliament and the judiciary — not the factions — as the instruments named for removing him.
