On August 29, Muntather al-Atiya and Muhammad al-Fandi, speaking separately on Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official), criticized Faleh al-Fayyad’s reported failure to attend parliament. Al-Atiya called the Security and Defense Committee’s request lawful and sought answers about parliament not being notified of the Saudi strike, while al-Fandi described the nonattendance as defiance of the law and constitution, suggested it indicated guilt or disrespect for the legislature, and said stronger parliamentary measures were available.

“Fayyad’s failure to attend parliament shows disregard for the law and parliament’s legislative work; by not attending, Fayyad rebelled against the law, constitution and legislative authority; his refusal indicates either an admission of guilt or disrespect for legislative authority; Fayyad’s position is subject to parliamentary oversight, and the legislature’s authority extends to stronger measure”

“The parliamentary Security and Defense Committee’s request for Fayyad to attend is lawful and official, and he must comply; his absence sets a legal precedent that could affect the reputation of the entire PMF; Fayyad should have answered parliament’s questions and observations about the targeting of the PMF; the attendance request seeks clarification about parliament not being notified of the Sau”
Compared with al-Atiya’s procedural case, al-Fandi’s formulation placed a more punitive interpretation of Fayyad’s reported nonattendance on the same AAH-owned outlet. The evidence establishes Al-Ahad TV’s carriage of both positions, not an official AAH accusation that Fayyad was guilty.
