Two militia-linked channels split registers on the weapons file

WHAT HAPPENED

At 21:41 on 13 August Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) headlined Bahaa al-Araji commenting on the "handover" of weapons with the line that some resistance demands are legitimate. At 21:25 the same evening Watan TV (Badr Organization — affiliated) carried a caption reporting Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi and Nouri al-Maliki discussing support for government anti-corruption measures, integrity, economic reform, "state control of weapons", and enforcing the rule of law, plus continued Iraqi openness to its regional and international surroundings. Both are single-caption items; the Watan TV picture and caption are editorial and do not establish that either participant endorsed each listed point.

WHY IT MATTERS

The network is not speaking with one voice on weapons consolidation: one surface normalises the state's formulation while another qualifies it, which is the seam to watch as the file moves.
