On 5 September, Academy of Political Development and Good Governance deputy head Hashim al-Husseini told Al-Ahad TV (AAH — official) that Iraq's political system had allowed weapons and parallel security and economic structures, that the threats which justified informal structures had ended, and that factions had become a burden on the state. He said the factions should dissolve into state security institutions; Al-Ahad TV's carriage does not make his position an AAH statement.
