Within the same hour on 17 August, two KH-affiliated channels published near-identical notices that Captain Ahmad al-Samarrai had been arrested over the alleged torture of a serviceman, Muhammad al-Rikabi, and referred to the competent judiciary. Sabereen News also relayed the politician Raad al-Tamimi saying the Martyrs Foundation had exposed thousands of cases of fraud and forgery in martyrs' entitlements, that granting such rights to terrorists cannot be accepted, and that certain forces are pressuring the foundation to abandon that course. In a third post, Sabereen News juxtaposed the Pentagon's call for arms firms to expand munitions production against what it described as the Iraqi government pursuing young men who develop drones by their own efforts.
