On 19 September, Kurdistan24 quoted Iraqi Communist Party secretary Raed Fahmi calling the disarmament of armed factions and groups outside state authority an urgent national duty. He said weapons outside official institutions constrained Iraqi sovereignty and argued that security stability was necessary to attract investment.
