On 4 September, Sabereen News (KH — affiliated) relayed Hoquq MP Hussein al-Daraji’s allegation that owners of 59 private fuel stations in Basra had not paid income tax and that some stations were not registered with the provincial tax authority. Citing a Financial Audit Bureau report, he alleged that clearance letters were nevertheless issued to most owners and said he would pursue the matter judicially.
